An investor led global Edtech needed to introduce new leadership and different ways of thinking to their Software Engineering capability.With an award-winning product this business has been achieving significant success globally and has now entered high volume markets.Off the back of this commercial success the board and CEO recognised that there were scale impediments in the product build teams and agreed it was time to introduce new leadership.
The Company
Head officed in Australia this company has a global presence with engineering capabilities in three geographical locations.Each location has a different culture and function. One is onshore, another is offshore and focuses on high value work and the third is offshore and focuses on lower value work.The CEO and investors are based in Australia.
The Challenge
Having a clearly defined purpose this organisation had many of the founding engineers in senior leadership roles.In addition to this the engineering function is globally dispersed with most of the function being in geographies outside of Australia.The CEO wanted better alignment between the business and engineering and wanted to prepare the business for scale in the core product and potential future diversification of the product.It was decided to hire a CTO based in Sydney.
